Spike Lee Certain Anthony Will Be A Knick

via RealGM.com

Acclaimed director and longtime Knicks fan Spike Lee is certain that Carmelo Anthony will play for his team in the near future.

"I have just one sentence for you," Lee told The New York Post on Saturday night. "Carmelo Anthony will be with the Knicks if God is willing and the creek don't rise."

Lee attended Anthony's wedding in July and The Post reported earlier this month that Anthony has told Lee the Knicks are far and away his top choice.

Amare Stoudemire debut in MSG

via NYDailyNews.com

Amar'e Stoudemire's family and friends will be at Madison Square Garden Saturday night along with a little more than 19,000 adopted supporters who, like the five-time All-Star forward, have waited nearly four months for this night.
The Knicks' home opener against the Portland Trail Blazers will provide the backdrop for Stoudemire's regular-season debut with the club that signed the former Phoenix Sun to a five-year, $100 million contract in July. He will be making the most anticipated Garden debut since Stephon Marbury in 2004 and Latrell Sprewell 11 years ago.
"It's a beautiful experience," Stoudemire says. "I've always dreamed about playing for a team like New York. It's finally here."
Stoudemire will be introduced last to the crowd Saturday night, an honor traditionally reserved for the best player on the team. It's a moment Stoudemire first thought about during his first visit to the Garden back in 2002 when he was being touted as the nation's top high school player.
"Walking in I was like 'wow, Madison Square Garden,'" Stoudemire said. "Those were my initial thoughts. Then I wanted to play a phenomenal game."

Fat Joe & New York Knick Amar’e Stoudemire Talk B-Ball & B-Boys

via xxl

FAT JOE: Yo, Amar’e, what’s the chances of [the New York Knicks] getting Carmelo Anthony [from the Denver Nuggets]? ’Cause you know I been on him heavy. I been harassing him, harassing his wife [La La Vazquez]. You think we [Knicks fans] might get him next year?
AMAR’E STOUDEMIRE: [Laughs] I hope so. It’s possible, man. I think ’Melo is looking to make a decision soon. Hopefully we can land him in New York. We could use him.
FAT JOE: New York is crazy excited. We got [Anthony] Randolph [from the Golden State Warriors]—he’s skinny, but he’s real tough. He’s gonna be somebody in this league. If that nigga just lift some weights and eat some shit, he’s gonna be aight.
AMAR’E STOUDEMIRE: He’s gonna be aight. I’ma put him under my wing for a minute, man. Make sure he understand [what it takes] to be an all-star in this league, and he’ll get it together.
FAT JOE: You feeling ready this year?
AMAR’E STOUDEMIRE: I feel great, man. I feel like this is going to be an all-time year for me.
FAT JOE: I got that newspaper clipping when you took that picture [signing with the Knicks in early July]. You had your hands open at the front of Madison Square Garden. I was just so excited, and I still am. In New York, we’ve been thirsty for so long—we need this. Who else was really on you to go [to their team]?
AMAR’E STOUDEMIRE: Well, Miami kept calling me. Houston kept calling me. Phoenix kept calling me. Chicago was calling. New Jersey asked for a meeting. But I figured New York is… From a platform standpoint, playing in Madison Square Garden, as a player, you can’t look to do anything bigger than that. That’s, like, an ultimate goal from a basketball-player perspective.
FAT JOE: And you’re the king of New York, man! New York Knicks are such a blessed franchise—because, if we don’t win one game, it’s still sold out every night. Hopefully, next year, we get some more pieces involved. They’ve been rumoring CP3 [Chris Paul]. You know I’ve been harassing him too.
AMAR’E STOUDEMIRE: Yeah, he’s locked in [to his contract with the New Orleans Hornets] for a few more years. But if we can make the playoffs in this upcoming season here, then that’ll intrigue more players to come to New York. Everybody wants to come to New York—they just need a reason to. So if we make the playoffs, and we make some noise in the playoffs and be successful, everybody gonna wanna come to New York.
FAT JOE: Nah, we making the playoffs, B. There’s no way around it.
AMAR’E STOUDEMIRE: Absolutely.
FAT JOE: Even if you gotta score 40, 50 every game, we making that playoffs!
AMAR’E STOUDEMIRE: No doubt.
FAT JOE: Big men win championships. You’re obviously a big man, no homo. How [have the people of NYC] been treating you as you walk around New York?
AMAR’E STOUDEMIRE: The fans [have] been incredible, Joe. Everywhere I go, the fans are so psyched about the Knicks; they can’t wait for the season to start. They talking “Playoffs, playoffs, playoffs.” They saying this is the first time the city really been excited about the Knicks in a long time.
FAT JOE: What does the normal, common folk ask you when you walking down the street?
AMAR’E STOUDEMIRE: Man, pretty much what they sayin’ on the corners and the streets of New York is these words verbatim: “Stoudemire, get buckets, man! Get buckets, son! Take us to the playoffs!”
FAT JOE: [Laughs] What you got on your tape deck right now that’s hip-hop?
AMAR’E STOUDEMIRE: I’m riding with that Eminem right now. I got that Drake in the mix. And then you got the mixtapes out, so I got a lot of mixtapes. You know I gotta be rocking the mixtapes.
FAT JOE: Aight! Amar’e loves hip-hop, and he in that home of hip-hop, that mecca. So you about to start hearing some real-deal hip-hop. You about to get enlightened, [and you’re] really gonna find out about Dipset, The Lox, Joe Crack.
AMAR’E STOUDEMIRE: You know I know about all that, man, ’cause I was raised in New York. I was raised in Newburgh, New York, so I was out there when Biggie first hit. So you know I know about Big Pun, Joey Crack. I grew up in that era, so it’s kinda home sweet home for me.
FAT JOE: I know you went to Carmelo Anthony’s wedding. Was you asking him to come play for the Knicks at that wedding? Did you try?
AMAR’E STOUDEMIRE: You already know I did! [Laughs] We trying to build a conglomerate with the Knicks. We trying to build something special out here in New York.
FAT JOE: I’m sure you are, my brother. I got no doubts.

    Chandler: the new Cano

    via NYPost.com

You see the flashes of potential, those moments where his talent is clearly obvious. It's just not marginal talent either. It's the kind of talent that can dominate a game when he chooses to exert his will.
Yet, there are those other moments when all that skill seems non-existent, buried in lethargy or a lack of passion.
The Yankees had a player like that. His name is Robinson Cano. But I'm talking about Wilson Chandler, the Knicks' swingman who needs to have a breakout season if his team is going to make the playoffs.
Cano might well be the American League MVP after finally fulfilling all the potential the Yankees saw in him when they made him their second baseman in 2005. The journey was sometimes frustrating, as Cano would have people scratching their heads when he didn't always run hard on the bases or didn't get to a ball that he should have.
Cano wasn't always focused, or so it seemed. And he didn't dominate games, but settled for being a role player, insisting he was giving his all even when it didn't look like it.
But the last two seasons, Cano has evolved into one of baseball's best players, hitting for average and power while consistently playing a brilliant second base. He has become all the Yankees thought he would be, if not more.
Thus far, Chandler has been the player Cano used to be. There are times when he can take over a game like he did in the season opener Wednesday night at Toronto, where he came off the bench to score a team-high 22 points. He also had eight rebounds and played a part defensively in limiting Toronto's Andrea Bargnani to just four second-half points after scoring 18 before the break.
Chandler, who logged 29 minutes, carried the Knicks early in the fourth quarter when he scored 8 of his team's 10 points during one stretch -- and he helped seal the victory by hassling Leandro Barbosa into missing a potential game-tying 3-pointer from the corner with three seconds left.
"He's been that player for a while," Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni said of Chandler after the win. "He's very good."

T-Mac: LeBron was never going to New York

    vi si.com

Tracy McGrady didn't see it happening. [McGrady] never believed LeBron James would sign with the Knicks because "it just wasn't the right situation for him." McGrady, who made his Pistons debut Wednesday night against the Nets in Newark, added that the Knicks didn't have enough talent on their roster to justify LeBron leaving Cleveland for New York. "He would have been in a situation where he would have been back in Cleveland," McGrady told The Daily News. "That's what I felt like."

    Q. Should I admit that I’ve made mistakes?
    A. The words would mean a lot more if they came from him and weren’t written for him by Nike or an ad agency. A spot won’t rehabilitate his image, but an apology would have.

    —Jim Rome

    Q. Should I remind you I’ve done this before?
    A. What? Stared at your high school’s trophy case? I’m not impressed.

    —Sam Toth, BleacherReport.com

    Q. Should I just sell shoes?
    A. Because that's basically what I've been doing so far and it's worked out pretty good.

    —Matthew Callan, ScratchBomb.com

    Q. Should I tell you I'm a championship chaser?
    A. Yes, please tell us that.

—Miami Heat fan MiMi Cook, AssociatedContent.com

    Q. Should I stop listening to my friends? They’re my friends.
    A. Yeah. You should. Listen, I have a best friend at home named Squibb and he passed out in a veterinarian’s office because he watched his cat take a rectal thermometer. I love the guy to death. Best friend ever. Couldn’t ask for more. But just because he’s my best friend on Earth, and I grew up with him and played basketball with him all the time, does not mean he’s the person best equipped to handle my career. He passed out when he saw a cat take a rectal thermometer, for crying out loud. He doesn’t have the stomach for this.

    Q. Should I try acting?
    A. No, you could never replace Tubbs.

    —Broken Baller, GearUpForSports.com

    Q. What should I do?
    A. Keep making millions, while us fans and haters check out your youtube videos.

    —usernamePEN15, YouTube.com

Q: Should I be who you want me to be?
A: I want you to be a tremendously talented basketball player. Try just doing that for a while.

Melo says it's time for a change

    via si.com

"They want to sit down and talk, but my thing is it's way beyond this year," Anthony told Yahoo! Sports after scoring a team-high 23 points in the Nuggets' victory. "It ain't got nothing to do with the new GM, Josh, the players. For me, I feel it's a time for change. If I do nothing now, I'm never going to do anything. I feel like my time is now to make a decision if I want to leave or if I want to stay." League sources still expect the Nuggets to try to trade Anthony rather than risk losing him for nothing when he can opt out of his contract at the end of the season.

Sources: N.Y. scout led improper workouts

collegiate players throughout gymnasiums in suburban Atlanta, Yahoo! Sports has found.
Knicks director of East Coast scouting Rodney Heard coordinated and conducted the sessions, three players who were involved in some of the workouts told Yahoo! Sports – including one May 2007 session that resulted in a devastating knee injury to Kansas All-American Brandon Rush(notes). A tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in Rush’s right knee forced him to withdraw from the 2007 draft and required surgery plus six months of rehabilitation.
In addition to the Rush session – which was an apparent violation of NBA bylaws forbidding teams from working out players before the annual predraft camp – Heard may have broken more rules by conducting predraft workouts with additional players during restricted time periods in 2007 and for excessive sessions in 2009 and 2010.

Why Do The New York Knicks Hate Their Fans ?

    via ESPNNewYork.com

Why Do The New York Knicks Hate Their Fans (And Not Understand Marketing)?

Let's say you're the New York Knicks. You have to choose between two players for the final spot on your 15-man roster. Here are your options: Shawne Williams: A 6-9 forward with career averages of 5.2 PPG and 2.4 RPG, Williams hasn't played an NBA game since January of 2009 and has been arrested twice this year—once for selling a controlled substance and the second time for driving on a suspended license (while also carrying marijuana and a loaded gun.)
Patrick Ewing Jr.: Son of New York Knick legend Patrick Ewing.
Keep in mind, the 15th man is a cheap, expendable option who will ride the bench almost every single night of the season, doing nothing more than handing out towels to veterans and only playing in blowouts.
So who do you think the Knicks chose? That's right: Williams.
Yes, Ewing Jr. is not a serviceable NBA player. But he does share a name and bloodline with one of the most-beloved players in the history of the franchise. (Williams shares an agent with current Knick superstar Amar'e Stoudemire.)

Charles Barkley thinks the Nets are better than the Knicks

    via NYDailyNews.com

"That's the New York Knicks, all right," Barkley says.

And although the Knicks have improved with the addition of five-time All-Star Amar'e Stoudemire, Barkley doesn't think they will be a playoff team this season. In fact, Barkley says that Mike D'Antoni's team "won't be better than New Jersey.

"I just don't know how good they can be," Barkley said on the eve of TNT's season-opening broadcast between Boston and Miami. "Can they make the playoffs? I just don't see it."

Barkley, who recently lost 40 pounds and says his goal is to drop another 40, added that Mike D'Antoni has his best team in three years and that one of the keys to its success will be Raymond Felton.

"Mike plays a point guard-driven system," he said. "And he had a great one in Phoenix in Steve Nash. They'll be better but again, I still think New Jersey will be better."

New York Knicks Should Trade for Chris Paul, Not Carmelo Anthony

    via BleacherReport.com

If it were to happen right now, the Knicks would be trading Danilo Gallinari, Anthony Randolph, Toney Douglas and THE Eddy Curry (with his huge expiring contract) for Carmelo Anthony. As a Knicks fan this trade is hard to even look at. I understand that Carmelo is an elite player in the league, but the Knicks are giving away their three most promising players and the huge expiring contract of Curry.
I look at this trade and think, "Why can't Carmelo just hold out so he can play with a better team next year?" I mean a team of Felton, Carmelo, Gallinari, Amar'e and Mozgov with Randolph, Douglas and Turiaf coming off the bench looks like a contender in the East to me. The reason I don't think it will happen and why the Knicks will trade for Carmelo during the year is that in the offseason, max contracts are going to go way down in value because of the potential lockout and Carmelo is not going to want to take less money than the other "cool kids" on the Heat.
This is why he will most likely be traded during the year. As a Knicks fan though, I think if we're going to have to give up all the players I mentioned before in a trade, I think it has to be for Chris Paul. I know talks with the Hornets haven't opened up since CP3 said he was happy in N.O., but he is just a way better fit for our team than Carmelo is. I know this team lacks a second scorer and Carmelo would fill that role, but having two players on your team who are primary scorers creates chemistry issues and the Heat will find that out soon with LeBron and Wade.
Chris Paul would bring a pure playmaker to New York, and not just a playmaker, but the best playmaker in the league when healthy. The image in my head I get from thinking about a potential Chris Paul "penetrate and lob up for an Amar'e dunk" only parallels what Jonah Hill said when he saw Aldous Snow perform in Forgetting Sarah Marshall ("It just went from six to midnight").

Landry Fields May Start At The 2

    via NYDailynews.com

Mike D'Antoni wouldn't commit to a starting lineup Sunday after practice in Greenburgh, but did admit that rookie Landry Fields has a shot of being his starting shooting guard when the Knicks open the season Wednesday in Toronto.

"He could be everywhere from starting to coming in and playing significant minutes," D'Antoni said of Fields. "He is a rookie, so a lot of it is still unknown. But I'm very comfortable with playing him. The thing about him is that he doesn't need the ball to do a lot of stuff. When you have guys like Amar'e (Stoudemire) and different guys you want the ball going to, then you've got to have other guys to be the 'glue' guys. He exemplifies that pretty well."

Despite everything you've heard about the Miami Heat and are going to hear about them, non-stop, over the next six months - about the Big Three, about LeBron James looking to settle scores with his legion of critics and about whether or not Pat Riley comes down from his executive suite to coach the team once it loses two straight games - it'll be a rematch between the Lakers and Celtics when they play the Finals in June.
    How are we so sure?
    Because the NBA isn't a three-on-three league.
Because the Heat doesn't have the size or length up front to match up with the Celtics.
Because this is the fourth season the Celtics' Big Three have been together, including two trips to the Finals in the last three years, while this is the first time that James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh are joining forces. Normally, championship teams need to go through the playoff wars together more than once to carry off the trophy (yes, the Celtics did it in '08).
Miami will be the best story, even if the Heat won't challenge the Bulls' record 72 wins (mainly because it doesn't have Michael Jordan).
But Boston will be the best team in the East, while Miami might not even be the best team in its own state.
Out West, the Lakers will be flying under the radar, despite having the game's best player in Kobe Bryant, despite Phil Jackson coaching his final season and despite a second three-peat potentially off on the horizon.

NBA commish David Stern talks Carmelo Anthony, CBA talks

    via DenverPost.com

Said Stern: “I think that the franchise player is an interesting concept, I’m sure it will come up in collective bargaining, but I think players are entitled to get the benefit of what they bargained for. And the union bargains for free agency, the players serve out a certain contract length. … It’s hard for me to buy your premise that somebody who’s played for a certain number of years, under a contract, and is a free agent is thereby dictating where he’s going to play. He’s exercising his rights.”

The commish was also asked — Do you consider it de-stabilizing to have franchise players, like Carmelo Anthony, able to orchestrate movement by refusing to sign a contract extension?

Not in the least,” Stern said. “The players have no obligation to sign the contract. And I remember when Kareem Abdul-Jabaar actually asked to be traded. Here we have a player who is keeping his options open. That’s his right under the collective bargaining agreement, and I don’t think it’s fair to hold him to a higher standard.’’

As for the collective bargaining agreement, which expires this summer, Stern said Thursday that the league needs to rollback salaries $750-800 million. On Friday, Players Association executive director Billy Hunter released the following statement regarding collective bargaining:

The position expressed by the NBA [Thursday] is regretful, since in February 2010, the players unequivocally rejected the owners’ proposal which called for a hard cap, a 40 percent rollback in player salaries, unlimited expense deductions and the elimination of guaranteed contracts. The players and the union would prefer to work towards attaining a fair deal that addresses concerns raised by both sides and improves the game. But, if the owners maintain their position it will inevitably result in a lockout and the cancellation of part or all of the 2011-2012 season. The players and union will prepare accordingly.

ESPN Expert predictions: New York Knicks

    VIA ESPN.COM

Predicted Finish For New York Knicks: 2010-11
    ANALYST COMMENT PREDICTIONS

    J.A. Adande, ESPN.com | Adande's picks
Troubling NY Post Anthony Randolph-Kenny Walker comparison aside, Amare Stoudemire, Timofey Mozgov and Raymond Felton will bring some life back to the Garden. Not sold on shooting and defense, and those are kinda important in the NBA.
    Atlantic: 2

    East: 7

Chris Broussard, ESPN Mag | Broussard's picks
Amare Stoudemire loves the attention as the new face of the Knicks, but he better deliver a playoff spot or that attention will get ugly fast. Amare and his nice cast of role players should reach the postseason. Their D will be typically atrocious, and that will be their undoing if they indeed miss the playoffs.
    Atlantic: 2

    East: 7

    Chad Ford, ESPN.com | Ford's picks
Amare Stoudemire, Raymond Felton and Anthony Randolph aren't exactly LeBron and Bosh, but they'll be enough to help Mike D'Antoni finally field a proper playoff team. But Donnie Walsh will have to find a way to get a player like Carmelo Anthony to get the team back into the elite.
    Atlantic: 2

    East: 7

Zach Harper, Daily Dime Live | Harper's picks
The Knicks' consolation prize from free agency is far from a worst-case scenario. Amare Stoudemire might not be what New York was hoping for, but he'll give it a much-needed go-to scorer. Add Raymond Felton's ability to run the pick-and-roll, and this team can back into the playoffs.
    Atlantic: 2

    East: 7

    John Hollinger, ESPN.com | Hollinger's picks
After two years of waiting for 2010 ... it's 2010! Party on Knicks fans, your team actually has a chance this season. The folks in MSG will be elated enough to forget that James Dolan a) still owns the team and b) tried to re-hire Isiah Thomas this summer.
    Atlantic: 3

    East: 8

Tim Legler, ESPN | Legler's picks
Obviously it was a letdown not getting LeBron James, but they still got Amare Stoudemire. He is comfortable with the Mike D'Antoni system. They are going to play an uptempo style and he is going to put up huge numbers. Anthony Randolph is a guy I love. Raymond Felton could have a breakout year.
    Atlantic: 3

    East: 9

    Chris Sheridan, ESPN.com | Sheridan's picks
They have set making the playoffs as their goal, which means basically a posting .500 record while hoping Carmelo Anthony plays out his contract and becoms an unrestricted free agent. Bench scoring is going to be an issue. The defense should be stronger, but can't say the same about rebounding.
    Atlantic: 2

    East: 6

    Marc Stein, ESPN.com | Stein's picks
Put me in the camp that dares to believe that the Knicks, with Amare Stoudemire, can sneak into the playoffs. I've said from the beginning that Stoudemire has the requisite bravado to stand up to the unique pressures of Gotham. And there's (probably) enough around him to snag one of the last two playoff slots.
    Atlantic: 2

    East: 7

    Michael Wallace, ESPN.com | Wallace's picks
They went hard after LeBron, but ended up with Amare. At least the Knicks didn't go empty-handed like the Nets in the peak of free agency. But Madison Square Garden will be filled with mediocrity again -- unless a midseason deal can be swung to acquire Carmelo Anthony.
    Atlantic: 3

    East: 9

    Brian Windhorst, ESPN.com | Windhorst's picks
That Jared Jerffries trade may haunt them all season as Donnie Walsh struggles to turn the Eddy Curry trade chip into something. But at least now they are actually looking at trades to get better. If nothing else, former Suns big man Amare Stoudemire makes them a playoff contender.

    DIME MAG:Ranking the NBA’s 30 Go-To Guys (#17: Amar’e Stoudemire)

    via DIMEMAG.com

    AMAR’E STOUDEMIRE, New York Knicks
The dumbest basketball argument in the world right now — which is quite an accomplishment considering some of the LeBron garbage polluting the blogosphere recently — is the one claiming Amar’e Stoudemire has been great only because he won the Arizona Lottery and got to play with Steve Nash for six years.

Never mind that Amar’e won Rookie of the Year on a playoff team, and then averaged 20 points and 9 boards in his second year as a 21-year-old before Nash joined the Suns. Never mind that Nash has nothing to do with Stoudemire’s 8.9 rebounds per game career averages. Never mind that Nash wasn’t setting the picks, executing the rolls, or finishing the buckets that Amar’e finished to become a five-time All-Star. Never mind that, while Amar’e was never better than when he had Nash on his side, Nash was also never better than when he had Amar’e. Somehow everybody forgot that the Suns’ explosive two-man game was really a two-man game, its success no more attributed to the short guy than to the tall guy.

Now that Amar’e is “on his own” in New York, he will prove that he’s pretty damn good without Nash. He’s off to a good start early, averaging 26 points through five preseason games (matching his regular-season career high) including a 39-point explosion against the Nets on Tuesday and a 30-point effort against Boston last week. Or maybe that was all because of Ray Felton.

Stoudemire Says Knicks Need To Ignore Carmelo

    via RealGM.com

Knicks center Amar'e Stoudemire has warned his teammates that they can't allow the possibility of adding Carmelo Anthony to hang over the team.

Stoudemire referenced the nearly two years of LeBron James speculation that hung over New York recently.

"At this point, it doesn't make a difference," Stoudemire said.

"The team we have, we got to keep in mind it's all we got right now. We can't really focus on the one that's out there. You can't really depend on anyone who's not with us right now. The team we have, we've got to be ready to play."

In a TNT conference call, Kevin McHale said that Anthony's situation is more of a distraction to the Nuggets.

"I think it'll affect his teammates a lot more," McHale said. "It's a lot harder to play with a guy when you're wondering if he wants to be there. I think Carmelo will be fine. It's how his teammates adjust to a guy that. Is he all the way in? Is he in the foxhole with us? It's always harder for the teammates, especially with a superstar like 'Melo who always puts up great numbers."

    HEATHATERS: Lebron's Greatest Quotes

    Lebron's Greatest(Dumbest) Quotes

    LeBron on staying Humble:
    Quote:
"LeBron stays humble just by being LeBron."

    LeBron's first Tweet:
    Quote:
"Hello World, the Real King James is in the Building "Finally"."

LeBron on why he Never called the Cavs about his Departure:
    Quote:
“I didn’t talk to anyone personally because I got to a point the last day, I heard so much through out the whole process. The last day I wanted it to be about me.”

LeBron after winning ECF Game 2 vs Magic:
    Quote:
"I told Mo, whatever it was going to take for me, if the 1st, 3rd, 2nd, if all options run, I'm going to come get the ball and I'm going to knock down the shot," said James. "I don't take time to look at what I do as an individual while I'm still playing this team game. When I'm done and retired and I'm gone away from the game, I can look back on what I did as an individual. As long as I have 14 teammates, I will never look upon what I do as an individual. That's not how I approach the game."

LeBron after losing ECF Game 3 vs Magic:
    Quote:
"I'm only one guy," James said. "I took Hedo (Turkoglu) in the first game and Rashard (Lewis) hit the winning shot. I took Rashard in the second game and Hedo hit the shot. If I could clone myself, we'd be all right. But I can't."

LeBron on his 1st Pre-season game back after being Sick:
    Quote:
"I felt a little winded. I ain't gonna lie. I wasn't 100 percent," said James who was recovering from a virus. "If I looked sharp, wait until I get 100 percent."

LeBron on why LeBron is never on a Lose-Lose but Win-Win Situation:
    Quote:
"In the life I live today, the way I am blessed, the way the man above has given me these God-given abilities, there's no way I'm in a lose-lose situation. Every day I wake up, see my family, my two sons running around loving life, there's no way I'm in a lose-lose situation. I'm going out here playing a game of basketball, the game I love, the game I played as a kid for free, and we still play for free! So there's no lose-lose situation for me. It just so happens we've got cameras and people writing about it. So until you understand who LeBron James is, LeBron James is in a win-win situation, and will continue to be in a win-win situation."

    LeBron on Homosexuality:
    Quote:
“We’re like family and you take showers with each other,” James said Wednesday. “We’re on the bus together and we talk about a lot of things and if you’re not trustworthy, like admitting you’re gay, you can’t be trusted. It’s a trust factor.”

LeBron on 1st Practice with the Heat:
    Quote:
"That's just me," James said of his intensity during practice. "Being around new teammates, you don't want to wear out your welcome on Day 1. But I just can't hold it back because my leadership skills won't allow me to do that."

LeBron on 1st Pre-season Game with the Heat:
    Quote:
"I can't defer," James said. "I'm never in defer mentality."

    LeBron on Sharing the Ball:
    Quote:
"I love sharing the ball with my teammates. I see a lot of things before my teammates see them."

LeBron on being More Aggressive with the Ball:
    Quote:
"Sometimes the coaches tell me to be selfish, but my game won’t let me be selfish.”

LeBron on his Role for the Team:
    Quote:
"I've always been a leader. I've always kind of been the tallest person on the team when I was younger, but always kind of the smartest. I was ahead of my time. I wasn't always the oldest, I kind of was the youngest on the team."

    LeBron on Being a Leader:
    Quote:
"Everywhere I've been, I've been the best player. I love being a leader, and I love being the best. It's not about being cocky or selfish or anything like that. It's just how I am."

LeBron on his Ultimate Goal while in Cleveland:
    Quote:
"I got a goal, and it's a huge goal, and that's to bring an NBA championship here to Cleveland, and I won't stop until I get it."

LeBron on his Vision for Cleveland:
    Quote:
“I've always felt since I was drafted here that I was going to light [Cleveland] up like Vegas. I said that on Day 1 once I got drafted. It's been slow progress, but it takes a few years to put a building up in Vegas, too.”

LeBron on Playing in the NBA:
    Quote:
“There's no reason to play in the NBA if you don't believe you can win it all.”

LeBron on future of Winning 1st Championship with Cavaliers:
    Quote:
"I've been used to being an automatic winner, just going onto the court knowing no team could beat us. I didn't feel that way my first year in the League. Now I’m at a point where I feel like every time we play, we’re going to win. I’m not saying I know we’re going to win a championship this year. That takes time. It took Jordan seven years, Shaq eight. If we keep getting better, I don’t think I’ll have to wait eight years."

LeBron on Singing his extension with Cavaliers before 2007:
    Quote:
“If I didn't believe in this team and this organization and the direction that we're headed, I wouldn't have signed the extension.”

    LeBron on his Decision:
    Quote:
"In this fall, man this is very though, in this fall, I'm going to take my talents to South Beach and play with the Miami Heat."
LeBron's thoughts about Ring - Chasing:
    Quote:
"It’s also important to me to make the team I’m on now the best," says James about his Cavaliers team. "I don’t want to go "Ring - Chasing" as I call it, you know. Going to a team that’s already pretty established and trying to win a ring with them. I want to stay with the Cavs and build a champion. And I feel like we’re on our way."

LeBron's Farewell to Cleveland on his Website:
    Quote:
“Next year, I will be playing for The Miami Heat. I would like to thank all of my fans for supporting me and I am looking forward to seeing you guys next season as I CHASE the NBA Championship.”

LeBron on why LeBron left Cleveland:
    Quote:
"One thing I didn't want to do was make an emotional decision. I wanted to do what's best for LeBron James and to do what makes LeBron James happy. Put the shoe on the other foot. The Cavs would have gotten rid of me at one point. Would my family burn down their organization? Of course not. This is a business. I've had seven great years in Cleveland."

LeBron on when his new Heat team visits Cleveland:
    Quote:
"Hopefully the fans will be respectful, but at the same time I don't expect that to be. But I gave a lot to the [Cavs] organization, my talents, my seven years. I tried to take them to places where they had never been before."

    LeBron on Heat's Aspirations:
    Quote:
"Not 2, not 3, not 4, not 5, not 6, not 7. Hey, and when I say that when I say that, I really believe it. I'm not just up here blowing smoke at none of these fans, because that's not what I'm about. I'm about business. And we believe we can win multiple championships."

LeBron on his Criticism for the Decision:
    Quote:
"Don't think for one min that I haven't been taking mental notes of everyone taking shots at me this summer. And I mean everyone!"

LeBron on Race Factor in Media Coverage of his Decision:
    Quote:
"I think people are looking too far into [my race comment]. But at the same time, sometimes race does play a part in it. I've said what I had to say, and I'll continue to move on."

LeBron about the City of Cleveland:
    Quote:
"We didn't actually like Cleveland," says James. "We hated Cleveland growing up. There's a lot of people in Cleveland we still hate to this day."

LeBron on a Possible Return to the Cavaliers:
    Quote:
"If there was an opportunity for me to return to Clevelnd, and those fans welcome me back, that would be a great story."

LeBron on Cavs fans Burning his Jerseys:
    Quote:
"Maybe those ones burning my jerseys were never LeBron fans anyway."

LeBron on Playing for Cleveland fans:
    Quote:
"Cleveland fans are awesome," James told GQ. "But I mean, even my family gets spoiled at times watching me doing things that I do, on and off the court."

LeBron on staying Humble growing up:
    Quote:
"That's what keeps me humble because I know my background, know what my mother went through. I never get too high on my stardom or what I can do. My mom always says and my friends all say, ’You're just a very low-maintenance guy’. I don't need too much. Glamour and all that stuff don't excite me. I am just glad I have the game of basketball in my life.”

LeBron on NBA Logo and Players retiring #23:
    Quote:
"I just think what Michael Jordan has done for the game has to be recognized some way soon," said James. "There would be no LeBron James, no Kobe Bryant, no Dwyane Wade if there wasn't Michael Jordan first. He can't get the NBA logo [from Jerry West], and if he can't, something has to be done. I feel like no NBA player should wear No. 23. I'm starting a petition, and I've got to get everyone in the NBA to sign it," James continued. "Now if I'm not going to wear No. 23, then nobody else should be able to wear that number."

LeBron on Boobie Gibson missing Game 6 vs Celtics:
    Quote:
"A LeBron James team is never desperate."

LeBron on getting Booed for Blow-out Lost to Celtics:
    Quote:
"I spoil a lot of people with my play," James told ESPN.com after a 120-88 loss. "When you have a bad game here or there, when you have 3 bad games in a 7-year career, then it's easy to point that [bad] game out."

LeBron on Not Shaking Hands after Playoffs elimination
    Quote:
"I’m a winner. I’m a competitor. That’s what I do. It doesn’t make sense for me to go over and shake somebody’s hand."

LeBron on Not Shaking Dwight Howard's hand and missing Media:
    Quote:
"I wouldn't have done it the same. I would have [at least] done the media. Without you guys [the media], there is no LeBron James, D-Wade, Tiger Woods or no Peyton Manning," continued James. "But as far as the dunk tape, or whatever car I'm driving, some things you guys shouldn't comment and some things you should. I look at the no handshake like this — during the regular season, no one ever shakes hands. I congratulated Dwight Howard through email and told him good luck in the Finals. Shaking hands is not a big deal to me. It's not being a sore loser, it’s moving on."

LeBron on wether he made the US Basketball Team for the 2008 Olympics:
    Quote:
"It looks positive at this point. I haven't talked with Mr. Colangelo, but we should be making this announcement within a week or so."

    LeBron on his Dedication:
    Quote:
"Ask me to play. I'll play. Ask me to shoot. I'll shoot. Ask me to pass. I'll pass. Ask me to steal, block out, sacrifice, lead, dominate. Anything. But it's not what you ask of me. It's what I ask of myself."

LeBron on Crab Dribble being called for Travelling:
    Quote:
"You have your trademark play, and that's one of my plays. It kind of looks like a travel because it's slow, and it's kind of a high-step. But it's a one-two just as fluent as any other one-two in this league. I got the wrong end of it, but I think they need to look at it. They need to understand that's not a travel," James said.

LeBron on a Defensive Play against Tracy McGrady:
    Quote:
"On his way up, I got a piece of [McGrady's] arm and also a piece of the ball, which made his shot short [an airball]," James said. "You know, I guess it was a great defensive play."

LeBron talking about his Nike commercial:
    Quote:
“Me and Nike came up with the concept. We just ran with it, man. It was awesome! It took me about a week to do it. I was putting on different costumes. We hit everyone; the older generation, the younger generation, and the ‘Me’ generation.”

LeBron on Cleaning Upand Committing to the 2010 Dunk Contest:
    Quote:
"It's got to be cleaned up, they have to go back to maybe the '80s with MJ and Dominique," James said. "You can't have so many chances at dunking the basketball. The whole anticipation of a dunk contest is one or two tries and that's it. If not, you get a score of 30 or 35. Guys are getting 10 opportunities to do the same dunk, by the time they complete it, it is like 'OK, we've seen it.'"

"Right now I'm preliminarily putting my name in the 2010 contest Saturday night," said James before continuing to call himself in the third-person, "LeBron James is saying in 2010, in Dallas Stadium, he will compete."

LeBron on the Nike confiscated Dunk Tape:
    Quote:
"I never told anyone to confiscate any tapes. Nike just has a no videotape policy at pick-up games. But now that LeBron is involved, it's blown up. It's a play that happens in basketball all the time. You can go on YouTube and see me being dunked on by a lot of guys. I like to call myself a shot blocker and getting dunked on tends to happen."

LeBron when jokingly asked if the shoes given to him by Kobe Bryant helped his game:
    Quote:
“A lot of players know how to play the game, but they really don’t know how to play the game... if you know what I mean. They can put the ball in the hoop, but I see things before they even happen. You know how a guy can make his team so much better? That's one thing I learned from watching Jordan."

LeBron to Danny Crawford after a Wizards Game:
    Quote:
For the record, James turned to referee Danny Crawford and said: "Danny, they're trying to hurt me!"

After the game, James told the media, "I definitely saw DeShawn coming, but I didn't know that he hit me with a closed fist until one of my teammates told me," James said. "If we were on the park, something definitely would have escalated. If we was on the park where I grew up playing a lot of basketball, something would have happened. They want to hurt LeBron James. It's not going to work."

LeBron about girlfriend Savannah, his Baby's Mama:
    Quote:
“A person like myself always needs a great sidekick. And she’s that,” James says. “She’s got my back.”

LeBron on being a Role Model
    Quote:
Once you become a professional athlete or once you do anything well, then you're automatically a role model," says James. "I have no problem being a role model. I love it."

LeBron on Donating $2.5 of the $6 million Revenue to Boys & Girls Club:
    Quote:
"This is an unbelievable venture for myself. This is great, also for the kids. The kids are our future. One day we might have another LeBron. Maybe."

    LeBron on Dan Gilbert:
    Quote:
"I don't think he ever cared about LeBron," James says of Gilbert. "My mother always told me: 'You will see the light of people when they hit adversity. You'll get a good sense of their character' Me and my family have seen the character of that man."

LeBron on idea of Affordable $15 Sneakers;and Stephan Marbury's response:
    Quote:
    March 28, 2007

Before the Cavaliers vs Knicks game, LeBron James, whose line of sneakers cost around $120 - $150 a pair, was asked about the idea of affordable $15 sneakers, endorsed by Stephan Marbury.

LeBron: "Growing up in the inner city, at times families can't afford $120 shoes. It's definitely smart on their part.''

Asked if the Nike $90 million man could see himself wearing these sneakers:

LeBron: "No, I don't think so. Me being with Nike, we hold our standards high."
