Melo, CP3, and D-Wade Jordan Brand China Tour Recap

The Jordan Brand Flight Tour of China continued to Hangzhou, where Jordan Brand athletes Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, and the newly arrived Dwyane Wade (he missed out on Hong Kong and Chengdu) toured the city and its blazing hot temperature before heading to the sports arena for a rematch between Carmelo and CP3. Melo and CP3 again coached the Chinese National teams, this time the 22-and-under squad, while Dwyane Wade served as the referee as well as the commentator for the game.

Knicks and Toney Duckets Swarm The Hornets!

Last night the Knicks handled the Hornets like some trained bug swatters. The Knicks took them out in a blow out 107-88. What should have been the CP3 showcase turned into the The Toney Duckets Show! With Chauncey Billups missing what could should be one of two games with a deep left thigh bruise. Insert Toney Douglas, and much to my and probably most viewers surprise he played some of his best ball this season. He finished the game with 24 points, shot 10 for 13 from the field and 4 for 6 from deep.

Knicks Still Have CP3 On The Radar

The Dream Team of Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony, and Amare Stoudemire is still in the Knicks plans.

"Go back to the wedding toast," the source said. "Nothing's really changed since that night," the source said. "The feeling is that Carmelo will be here this year, and Paul will be here in 2012."

One source said Donnie Walsh wasn't unsettled by news that the Lakers have entered Anthony trade talks, believing it is largely a ploy to raise New York's offer.

The 2012 free agent class, which includes Paul, Dwight Howard and Deron Williams remains a big priority.
"Yes it is," he said. "It would be one element that's in your thoughts."

Chris Paul is Huge Fan of Mike D'Antoni

"It's going to be a tough game," Paul said. "I'm a huge fan of Coach D'Antoni's, and he really has those guys going right now. And any time you have a personality like Amar'e [Stoudemire] on your team and Raymond running your show, you're going to be tough."

"I don't regret anything during the summer," he said. "Everything that happens makes you stronger. Now I'm just happy to be on a great team that's playing really well."

"The summer is over," Paul said. "I'm just so happy it's the season now. We don't have to worry about [the speculation] anymore. It's all about the next game.
"We're playing. We're in-season. I don't think about anything, but trying to stop Raymond Felton and Amar'e in that pick and roll [today]."

Still, Paul keeps in touch with his buddy Stoudemire.

"Every now and then we talk," Paul said. "Most definitely [he's happy]. Especially whenever you can reconnect with a coach like that, especially Coach D'Antoni.
"I'm sure Amare's happy. Those guys are playing well. Amare's one of those guys who's going to play hard. That's what I love about him. He's just always going to compete and his game keeps getting better each year."

Carmelo Anthony Confirms Chris Paul's Toast About Playing In New York

Carmelo Anthony has confirmed a New York Post report that Hornets point guard Chris Paul made a champagne toast at the Denver forward's wedding in July that called for himself, Anthony and Amar'e Stoudemire to team up with the Knicks.
"Everybody was having fun. The Miami Heat was the hot topic at that point. There were a lot of players. They were just laughing and joking about it. It is what it is," Anthony said.
"It wasn't set up. It wasn't staged. It was just everybody having a good time laughing and joking."
Anthony denied a Post report he told Spike Lee, who attended the wedding, the Knicks are his first choice.
He added of Denver's extension, "It's still there. My options are open."

New York Knicks Should Trade for Chris Paul, Not Carmelo Anthony

If it were to happen right now, the Knicks would be trading Danilo Gallinari, Anthony Randolph, Toney Douglas and THE Eddy Curry (with his huge expiring contract) for Carmelo Anthony. As a Knicks fan this trade is hard to even look at. I understand that Carmelo is an elite player in the league, but the Knicks are giving away their three most promising players and the huge expiring contract of Curry.
I look at this trade and think, "Why can't Carmelo just hold out so he can play with a better team next year?" I mean a team of Felton, Carmelo, Gallinari, Amar'e and Mozgov with Randolph, Douglas and Turiaf coming off the bench looks like a contender in the East to me. The reason I don't think it will happen and why the Knicks will trade for Carmelo during the year is that in the offseason, max contracts are going to go way down in value because of the potential lockout and Carmelo is not going to want to take less money than the other "cool kids" on the Heat.
This is why he will most likely be traded during the year. As a Knicks fan though, I think if we're going to have to give up all the players I mentioned before in a trade, I think it has to be for Chris Paul. I know talks with the Hornets haven't opened up since CP3 said he was happy in N.O., but he is just a way better fit for our team than Carmelo is. I know this team lacks a second scorer and Carmelo would fill that role, but having two players on your team who are primary scorers creates chemistry issues and the Heat will find that out soon with LeBron and Wade.
Chris Paul would bring a pure playmaker to New York, and not just a playmaker, but the best playmaker in the league when healthy. The image in my head I get from thinking about a potential Chris Paul "penetrate and lob up for an Amar'e dunk" only parallels what Jonah Hill said when he saw Aldous Snow perform in Forgetting Sarah Marshall ("It just went from six to midnight").

New Orleans Hornet instability could bring Chris Paul to Knicks or Nets

In New Orleans, in what might accelerate Chris Paul's departure for New York or Newark/Brooklyn, but is not good news for the NBA, prospective incoming owner Gary Chouest apparently has decided to not buy the team from long-time owner George Shinn.

Last spring, Chouest, a local billionaire, reached an agreement in principle to buy out Shinn, the team's original owner. Chouest had purchased 25% of the team in 2007.

But according to a league official familiar with the Hornets' rocky ownership situation, the deal fell apart.

"Chouest didn't step up," the source said. "He's not going to buy the team from George. It looks as if George will have to hold onto it."

That's bleak news for Hornets fans, who were hopeful that Chouest would come in, spend money on talent, and get Paul to change his mind about leaving. But it's a great development for the Knicks and Nets and every other team that has its eye on Paul, who becomes a free agent in 2012 and has told associates that he wants to play in New York with Amar'e Stoudemire.

Of course, publicly, Paul continues to say all the right things about wanting to stay in New Orleans. But the franchise remains in a salary-shedding mode, and other than David West, he's not surrounded by a lot of big-time talent. Without Chouest's deep pockets, the prospect of Shinn putting in the kind of money it will take to bring in more talent for Paul is considered beyond remote.

"No deal has been reached," said the league official. "And the price being mentioned - $425 million, which is not just for the team, but also for the building (the Palace of Auburn Hills) and two amphitheaters where they have concerts - is at the very high end."
