Stoudemire was confident that the call would be overturned. Referee Bennett Salvatore called a double technical on Stoudemire and Mavs center Brendan Haywood after the two big men jostled after a made basket. Moments later, Stoudemire explained to Salvatore that there was no malicious intent behind his actions and that he and Haywood are friends. The conversation ended with both players and the referee smiling. "We understood it was kind of a quick whistle," Stoudemire said late Thursday. "He knows me and Brendan weren't in an altercation."
