The latest proof of The King's super-thin skin comes compliments of Anthony Tolliver, a role player and nice guy who plays for the Minnesota Timberwolves and posted his own “Decision” on YouTube.
"Hello," Tolliver says after some ESPN music plays and a hand-made sign introduces the segment. "I'm Anthony Tolliver. Welcome to The Decision Part Deux. Which is French for two."
Let's be clear. This is pretty funny. It's also harmless.
Yep, funny stuff. Tolliver is clearly making fun of himself. But a little attempt at humor became part of the LeBron saga and the Heat's 129-97 steamroll over the Timberwolves Tuesday night.
Last week, when asked about the video, LeBron answered with ice in his voice.
"I didn't see it, but I heard about it," he said. "We play Minnesota twice."
Tuesday night, James compiled his 20 points and 12 dimes with the same locked-in focus that's marked his entire season. Again the Heat were great, with Dwyane Wade adding 26 points, Udonis Haslem racking up another double-double and Chris Bosh pitching in 13 points.
So great, in fact, it's easy to understand the befuddlement in the Wolves’ locker room before the game.
How can the leader of a team this great — a player fantastically great in his own right — care so much about a bench player's playful 69-second spot?
How can The King not understand that some of his lesser subjects aren't trying to pull off a palace coup; they're just living their lives and, here and there, making a joke or two?
"I never even saw Anthony's video myself," said Minnesota big man Kevin Love. "Anybody that knows Anthony knows he's a carefree kind of guy: fun loving and a good dude, comes from a good family and has good friends. So anybody that takes that too personally, I mean, I don't really know what to say."
