Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni said he has no expectations that rehabbing shooting guard Kelenna Azubuike will be ready to play anytime soon.
D'Antoni even said he wouldn't be surprised if he didn't have Azubuike available for another two months, mentioning Christmas.
Azubuike, who had patella tendon knee surgery last November, said early in training camp he was shooting to be ready for the season opener Oct. 27 in Toronto but that appears dead.
Azubuike, who's been running for two weeks but hasn't done a full sprint, said yesterday about that prediction, "
You never say never.''
Azubuike, if he ever gets healthy, could be a starting shooting guard, based on his former explosiveness and shooting ability.
The Knicks are still trying to figure out whether they want to use a traditional shooting guard in their starting lineup and move Wilson Chandler to power forward and Amar'e Stoudemire to center.
