Knicks' Turiaf trying to cling to starting job in Paris

"Feels good to watch French TV, I watched French TV for two hours last night,'' Turiaf said. "That's how much I missed it.''

The Knicks, coming off last night's victory in Milan over AJ Milano in Danilo Gallinari's and Mike D'Antoni's homecomings, face the Wolves at the Omnisport Paris Bercy Wednesday as their European vacation moves on.

Turiaf's parents and many relatives still live in the Paris area.

"It's a wonderful opportunity for me to come and play here,'' Turiaf said, "with something different than the national team.''

Turiaf will start his second straight game at center, but that is partly due to Mike D'Antoni giving the fans what they want. Turiaf has not distinguished himself offensively and that could be a factor in him losing the starting job. D'Antoni admits athletic Anthony Randolph and impressive rookie Russian center Timofey Mozgov are nipping at his heels.

"Ronny's going to be an energy guy, block shots, very good defensively,'' D'Antoni said. "Offensively, that will come. He was out for a while last year, so he's a little rustier than normal.''

D'Antoni said he may rotate the starters this year in the pivot to keep giving them a new look. Clearly, D'Antoni is agog over Mozgov, but his inexperience and lack of grasp on the English language could make him hesitant to start him off the bat.
