Amare Stoudemire debut in MSG

via NYDailyNews.com

Amar'e Stoudemire's family and friends will be at Madison Square Garden Saturday night along with a little more than 19,000 adopted supporters who, like the five-time All-Star forward, have waited nearly four months for this night.
The Knicks' home opener against the Portland Trail Blazers will provide the backdrop for Stoudemire's regular-season debut with the club that signed the former Phoenix Sun to a five-year, $100 million contract in July. He will be making the most anticipated Garden debut since Stephon Marbury in 2004 and Latrell Sprewell 11 years ago.
"It's a beautiful experience," Stoudemire says. "I've always dreamed about playing for a team like New York. It's finally here."
Stoudemire will be introduced last to the crowd Saturday night, an honor traditionally reserved for the best player on the team. It's a moment Stoudemire first thought about during his first visit to the Garden back in 2002 when he was being touted as the nation's top high school player.
"Walking in I was like 'wow, Madison Square Garden,'" Stoudemire said. "Those were my initial thoughts. Then I wanted to play a phenomenal game."
